Fans were surprised by more than just the rule changes. The first and third base lines were curved along the way, making it virtually impossible to call a runner out for leaving the baseline.

Bravehearts mascot Jake the Lion also took an at-bat, and several Worcester employees took the field to get in on the action.

With the game tied at eight after seven innings, a home run derby was used to decide the winner, as it does in regulation Futures League games.

Connor Podeszwa was unable to put one out for Norwich, so Cam Seymour needed just one homer to send the fans home happy. In dramatic fashion, Seymour did just that with his final swing of the derby, hammering a longball over the right field fence to give Worcester the victory.

Things will get back to normal for the Sea Unicorns and the rest of the Futures League on Thursday. Norwich will welcome the Nashua Silver Knights to Dodd Stadium for a 6:30 pm start.
