The Flying Squirrels are back from the Mid-Season Break with a record of 11-7 in the first half, tied for the top of the table in the Eastern League Southwest Division. The team will face off against the Harrisburg Senators, Double-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, from Friday, July 18 through Sunday, July 20.
Throughout the series, the Flying Squirrels will honor the legacy of the Richmond 34. On February 22, 1960, 34 brave men and women were arrested following a peaceful sit-in protest at the whites-only lunch counter of the Thalhimers Department Store in downtown Richmond. The “Richmond 34” sit-in ultimately led to the integration of Thalhimers and influenced legislation in the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The Flying Squirrels honor the legacy of these community heroes through various initiatives including the retirement of the number 34 for the franchise, the Richmond 34 Legacy Scholarship, specialty on-field jerseys and more. Learn more about the Richmond 34 here.
The team rounds out the series with the kick off of the Summer Music Series with Yacht Rock Night and a pregame performance from Three Sheets to the Wind.
