Setting The Tone: Castaño keeps Renegades rolling

WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. (August 25, 2022) — Blas Castaño continued his strong 2022 campaign in the Hudson Valley Renegades 6-3 over the Hickory Crawdads on Thursday night at Dutchess Stadium. With the win, Hudson Valley improved to a season-high 10 games over .500 and remained 0.5 games ahead of Brooklyn for first place in the North Division with 15 games to play.
Castaño (5-7) tossed five innings, allowing two unearned runs on five hits, walking one and striking out two. Castano tallied his 13th start this season holding the opponent to two runs or fewer, and his ninth appearance surrendering one-or-no earned runs.
The Renegades jumped ahead in the bottom of the second against Crawdads starter Mason Englert (7-5). Aaron Palensky crushed a solo home run to give Hudson Valley a 1-0 lead. The blast was the first hit off Englert in his last 15.1 innings.

In the top of the third, Alejandro Osuna lifted a sacrifice fly and Cristian Inoa drove in Jayce Easley with a soft grounder to put Hickory in front 2-1.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Renegades rallied for three to chase Englert from the game. Carlos Narvaez demolished a solo homer to level the score at two. With two outs and the bases loaded, Tyler Hardman slammed a two-run single, propelling Hudson Valley to a 4-2 advantage.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Renegades added two more against John Matthews. With the bases loaded and one out, Aldenis Sanchez laced an RBI single and Eduardo Torrealba brought home another with a high chopper, lengthening the lead to 6-2.
Charlie Ruegger and Trevor Holloway combined for four innings out of the Hudson Valley bullpen, allowing only three hits and one run, walking two and striking out two. Holloway slammed the door with 2.2 strong frames in his 2022 High-A debut.
Hudson Valley continues its six-game series with Hickory on Friday night at Dutchess Stadium. RHP Josue Panacual (2-5, 5.50) takes the ball for the Renegades, while the Crawdads tab RHP TK Roby (3-9, 4.80).
