Shelton Makes History, Tower Buzzers Walk Off Quakes in Wild 11-10 Win

ONTARIO, Calif. — Easton Shelton didn’t just have a night to remember; he made Dodgers prospect history, and the Ontario Tower Buzzers pulled off an incredible walk-off, rallying for three runs in the bottom of the ninth to stun the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, 11-10, Saturday at ONT Field.
Ontario built a big lead, only to see it slip away. By the time the ninth rolled around, the Tower Buzzers were down 10-8. Two outs stared them in the face, but they just wouldn’t quit.
Caleb Johnson and Oswaldo Osorio started the inning with singles. Rancho got the next two batters, but Francisco Espinoza poked a clutch RBI single to center, bringing home Osorio and trimming the Quakes’ lead to 10-9.
With two outs, Abel Lorenzo got plunked to load the bases. Kellon Lindsey dug in and coaxed a walk, forcing in the tying run. Bases still loaded, the crowd on its feet, and up stepped Ching-Hsien Ko. He lined a sharp single to left, Espinoza raced home, and just like that, a wild walk-off was in the books. The Buzzers stormed the field for a second straight win.
Shelton might’ve already sealed the highlight reel with his monster swing earlier in the game. Ontario was trailing 2-1 in the fourth before Osorio tied it with his 13th homer of the year. Joendry Vargas followed with a go-ahead RBI single.
Then, with the bases juiced and two outs, Shelton unleashed a grand slam for number 37 on the year, hitting it 503 ft, the longest home run of the year, shattering Ryan Ward’s Dodgers prospect single-season home run mark.
By the time Osorio doubled in another run, the Buzzers had put up seven runs in the inning and led 8-2.
But the Quakes weren’t finished. Rancho punched right back with a six-run seventh, capped by John Wimmer’s bases-clearing double that tied it at eight.
In the eighth, Marlon Quintero doubled and scored on a TJ Ford single, and Jeffery Heard worked a bases-loaded walk to put Rancho up 10-8.
Ontario’s bullpen did just enough to hold the line. Jholbran Herder stopped the bleeding in the eighth, and Ian May shut the door in the ninth, picking up his second win after the offense flipped the script in the final at-bat.
Final tallies: Shelton went 2-for-5 and drove in four, pushing his season RBI total to 111. Osorio was nearly unstoppable. 3-for-3, with a homer, a double, two walks, two RBI, and two runs scored.
Lindsey launched his 11th homer in the first and reached base three times. Ko, Vargas, and Espinoza all chipped in with two hits each, part of a 14-hit barrage for Ontario.
So now the Tower Buzzers have won two straight after a rough start to the series, and momentum is on their side as the regular season wraps up.
The finale has Ontario hosting Rancho Cucamonga Sunday afternoon, and with a playoff run looming, the Buzzers are starting to look dangerous.
