Horvath and Florentino Go Deep in Delmarva Victory

*SALISBURY, MD: *The Delmarva Shorebirds (18-25) bounced back from Tuesday's defeat with a 7-3 victory over the Salem Red Sox (19-25) on Wednesday night.

The Red Sox scored first in the opening inning on a two-run double by Luis Ravello, putting Delmarva behind 2-0 early.

But the Shorebirds would get one of those runs back on an RBI groundout by Mac Horvath to score Enrique Bradfield Jr. from third, making it a 2-1 game.

Randy Florentino tied the game in the second as he drilled a solo home run over the wall in right field to make it 2-2.

Delmarva would then take the lead in the third on a moon shot by Mac Horvath as his first home run in Single-A put the Shorebirds ahead 3-2. They added another run with two outs in the inning on a broken-bat hit by Anderson De Los Santos to plate Stiven Acevedo, extending the lead to 4-2.

The Red Sox would get one of those runs back on an infield single by Jhostynxon Garcia in the top of the fourth to trim the Delmarva lead back down to one at 4-3.

The bullpen for the Shorebirds would then lock in from there as Raúl Rangel tossed four innings of relief, not allowing any runs in his final three innings to keep it a 4-3 game after seven innings.

After Randy Berigüete pitched a scoreless top of the eighth, Delmarva scored three timely insurance runs starting with an RBI single by Anderson De Los Santos to push the lead back to two at 5-3. The Shorebirds then scored two unearned runs as a steal attempt by Matthew Etzel of third base resulted in a throw-away into left field by the catcher Johanfran Garcia, allowing Etzel and De Los Santos to touch home, giving the Shorebirds a comfortable 7-3 lead.

Berigüete would then shut down the Red Sox in the ninth by striking out the side in order, closing the door on a 7-3 Delmarva win.

Reliever Raúl Rangel (1-1) earned the win for the Shorebirds with Randy Berigüete (2) picking up the save. Salem starter Elvis Soto (0-2) was saddled with the loss.

Delmarva will now look to claim the series lead on Thursday night as Deivy Cruz draws the start against Yordanny Monegro for the Red Sox with first pitch at 7:05 p.m.
