SALISBURY, MD: The Delmarva Shorebirds (42-80, 19-37) were shut out 3-0 by the Fredericksburg Nationals (72-49, 26-29) on Wednesday.
The game was scoreless through three innings until Fredericksburg broke the stalemate with a three-run homer by Rafael Ramirez Jr. (7) in the fourth, making it 3-0.
Despite the home run, Harrison Kreiling put together another strong start for the Shorebirds, throwing a career-high five innings and matching his personal best with six strikeouts. He began the night by retiring the first 11 batters.
He was followed by Dalton Neuschwander, who threw two perfect innings with four strikeouts.
Isaac Silva retired the first five batters after entering for Neuschwander, and the three pitchers combined to retire 15 in a row as Delmarva's pitching surrendered just four base runners all game.
However, Fredericksburg's pitching was just as dominant, led by starter Juan Reyes, who threw five scoreless innings and retired 14 straight after giving up a hit in the first inning.
Tony Neubeck and Tyler Papenbrock combined to get the final 12 outs in their professional debuts as the Shorebirds were shut out 3-0 by the Fred Nats.
Juan Reyes (2-0) was the winning pitcher for Fredericksburg, while Harrison Kreiling (0-3) took the loss. Tyler Papenbrock (1) recorded the final three outs to notch his first professional save.
Delmarva continues its final homestand of the season on Thursday, with Esteban Mejia toeing the rubber against Leuris Portorreal for Fredericksburg. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
