JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Mississippi and Jacksonville battled back-and-forth Friday evening at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville but the Jumbo Shrimp had the last word as Alex Glenn delivered a walk-off double in the bottom of the ninth to secure a 5-4 victory.
Brian Anderson led off the bottom of the ninth with a base hit to center. He took second on a wild pitch from Michael Mader before Taylor Ard was intentionally walked with two outs. Glenn then ripped the walk-off drive down the right field line to end the game.
Mississippi (22-20) scored four runs on eight hits. Jacksonville (16-26) plated five runs on 11 hits. Offensively for the Braves, Joey Meneses led the way with a 3-for-5 night at the plate. He drove home one run. Luis Valenzuela added a 2-for-5 night with two RBI.

Mississippi took an early 1-0 lead in the first. Ronald Acuña Jr. singled and stole second. He then came around to score on Meneses base hit to right field.
Jacksonville responded in the bottom of the frame. David Vidal drew a one-out walk and Anderson singled. Ard then delivered a two-run double to left, putting the Shrimp out front 2-1.
In the fifth, Dylan Moore doubled and scored on a Valenzuela single to center, tying the game at 2-2. However, Jacksonville responded to retake the lead in the bottom of the frame on a Cal Towey RBI-single to center field.
Travis Demeritte hit an inside-the-park home run in the top of the sixth to tie the game at three runs apiece. With the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth, Vidal drew a walk to regain the lead for Jacksonville, 4-3.
The Braves tied it up again in the top of the seventh. Connor Lien walked and swiped second. Valenzuela later ripped a one-out double to right field, scoring Lien and making it a 4-4 game.
Mader (3-2) took the loss, working two-thirds of an inning. Esmerling De La Rosa (1-1) picked up the win, pitching the top of the ninth.
Neither starter factored in the decision. Kolby Allard tossed five innings for the M-Braves. He gave up three earned runs on seven hits and a walk while fanning six batters. Jeff Locke worked 5.1 innings for the Shrimp on ML Rehab. He surrendered three earned runs on seven hits while striking out seven.
In game three of this five-game series, the M-Braves send right-hander Wes Parsons (0-1, 3.65) to the mound where he'll counter Jacksonville lefty Matt Tomshaw (4-1, 2.14). First pitch is slated for 5:05 PM CST Saturday at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
