BILOXI, MS - The Biloxi Shuckers swept a doubleheader from the Mississippi Braves on Friday night, opening the second half of their season with two exciting victories. A pitcher's duel in game one was complemented with a high-scoring thriller in game two, capped with a Michael Choice  walk-off home run.
In game one, the Shuckers got a complete game shutout from Corbin Burnes  to beat the Braves 2-0. Burnes (W, 2-0) scattered four hits across 7.0 innings to lower his Double-A earned run average to 0.76. Entering the game, his 1.06 overall ERA was the lowest among qualified starters in all of Minor League Baseball.

The Shuckers scored their runs at the beginning and end of the game, getting an RBI single from Choice in the first and a sacrifice fly from Clint Coulter in the sixth off Tyler Pike (L, 0-2). Pike pitched a complete game for the tough-luck loss.

Any lack of run-scoring in game one was made up in the nightcap, as both teams burned through pitchers in a wild 11-9 victory.
Taylor Williams started for the Shuckers, and exhausted his limited pitch count without completing the first inning. The righty went 0.1 innings, walking three and allowing two hits. He was charged with six runs, though only two were earned after a Mauricio Dubón error extended the inning.
Biloxi answered right back in the bottom of the first with five runs of their own, getting a bases-loaded walk from Art Charles , two-run single from Wendell Rijo , and two-run double from reliever Bubba Derby to draw within one.
Derby was unable to finish the second, allowing three runs before Nick Ramirez came in to complete the inning. In the bottom of the inning, the Shuckers got three more runs on a two-run error from first baseman Sal Giardina and a Rijo RBI groundout to make the score 9-8.
Ramirez, Jorge López and Tayler Scott (W, 4-4) took the game into the late innings, and Johnny Davis squeezed home the tying run in the fifth to bring the game to 9-9.
In the bottom of the eighth, Choice hit a walk-off two-run home run off Jesse Biddle (L, 2-3) to give the Shuckers an 11-9 victory. It marked the fifth walk-off win of the season for the Shuckers, but the first home run.
