Shuckers Strike for 12 Runs, Trounce Barons in Home Season Finale

BILOXI, MS – The Biloxi Shuckers (63-65, 28-35) scored a dozen runs to conclude their regular season home slate and beat the Birmingham Barons (57-75, 31-32), 12-1 on Sunday night at Keesler Federal Park. The Shuckers plated 20 runs over their final two contests and finish their regular season with a 36-29 record at home.
Mark Coley II brought home the first two Biloxi runs in the second with a base knock and Josh Adamczewski followed suit in the third with an RBI single to extend the lead to 3-0. Matthew Wood hammered a solo shot, 378 feet and 98 mph off the bat to make it 4-0 in the fourth. The Barons scored their lone run of the ballgame on a Jose Colmenares long bomb in the sixth. The Shuckers countered in the home half with Coley II’s first triple of the season, which cleared the bases to add on three more to the advantage which became 7-1. Biloxi plated five more in the eighth thanks to a Damon Keith pinch hit RBI a Jesús Made 2-RBI single, plus run-scoring walks for Andrew Fischer and Wood.
Mark Coley II (3-for-4, 5 rbi), Jesús Made (3-for-5, 2 rbi) and Matthew Wood (1-for-3, 2 rbi) all recorded multiple RBIs, with Coley II and Made also collecting three hits each. Made climbed into a tie with Blake Burke (’26) for the 2nd-most RBI in a single season in Shuckers franchise history (since 2015) with 88. The current single-season record is 89, set by Jackson Chourio in 2023.
Jack Seppings (1-4) secured his first Double-A victory, while Dylan Cumming came up with the loss. Seppings (2.0ip, 0r, 1k), in addition to the Shuckers starter Josh Knoth (3.0ip, 0r, 2k) plus relievers Ryan Birchard (1.0ip, 0r, 2k) and Stiven Cruz (1.0ip, 0r) all did not surrender a single run.
The Shuckers have the day off on Monday before they hit the road for the final series of the regular season against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (Miami Marlins) at Blue Wahoos Stadium beginning Tuesday, September 8.
