North Little Rock, AR-A dominant starting pitching performance from Johendí Jiminian set the tone for the Arkansas Travelers on Sunday afternoon as they defeated the Corpus Christi Hooks, 7-5 at Dickey-Stephens Park. Jiminian retired the first 11 batters he faced and allowed only one hit and one walk while striking out five over 5.2 shutout innings. Corpus Christi denied a shutout bid in the ninth inning and had the tying run to the plate with no one out but Matt Walker was able to close it out. The Travelers' offense had their biggest day of the young season banging out a dozen hits including six doubles.
Moments That Mattered

  • Braden Bishop led off the game with a walk and came around to score on a clutch two out RBI hit from Seth Mejias-Brean.
  • Adam Law smoked a two-run double into the left-center gap in the fourth inning.
  • Mejias-Brean delivered his third hit of the game in the fifth inning to drive in Andrew Aplin.
  • Five of the first six batters in the bottom of the sixth got hits. Joseph Odom, Aplin and Chuck Taylor had RBIs.
  • After the Hooks scored three times in the ninth, Matt Walker was summoned from the bullpen and surrendered a two-run double but then settled down and recorded three straight outs to end the game.
