Angel Ventura (6-4, 4.15) tossed six perfect innings in the game one defeat, retiring the first 18 batters before a John Andreoli solo home run. The quality start was Ventura's eighth at the Triple-A level and third in his past four starts. Ivan De Jesus had two hits from the No. 2 spot, while Kirk Nieuwenhuis had a hit and two walks to reach safely in all three plate appearances.
De Jesus tallied another hit in the sixth inning of game two, ending the night by recording three of the five total hits for the Sky Sox (71-51). Brett Phillips recorded the other hit of game two and has hit safely in seven of the last 10 games.
Colorado Springs looks to win their second game of the series in the road trip finale at 6:05 p.m. MT from the Iowa capital. Friday night's contest is the 2017 season finale for the Sox against a PCL American North opponent away from Security Service Field.
