(Columbia, SC - May 20, 2017)-  The West Virginia Power exploded for a 9-3 victory over the Columbia Fireflies Saturday night. Clark Eagan launched a fourth-inning grand slam to bring the Power within one game of .500.

The West Virginia offense got on the board early in the second inning. Adrian Valerio drove in the game's first run with a single to drive home Brent Gibbs. With the bases loaded, Ty Moore lifted a deep drive into right that banged off the very top of the wall. Three runs were plated on the double and the Power led 4-0.
The Power loaded the bases again in the third inning. With three men aboard, Eagan pulled a liner just inside of the right field foul pole. The slam would be West Virginia's third of the season, with all of them coming on the road. Power starter Eduardo Vera had an 8-0 lead.
Columbia scored twice in the fourth inning with three straight, two-out doubles from Brandon Brosher, Tim Tebow, and Milton Ramos. Those runs would be all Vera allowed in his five innings of work. The right-hander struck out a career high seven batters.
A lone Columbia run came across in the seventh. West Virginia's Eagan drove home his fifth run of the game in the ninth. He finished 2-5.
The victory goes to Vera (2-1) while the loss was charged to Jake Simon (1-2). On Sunday, the Power take on Columbia one last time with Matt Anderson (3-2) on the mound. The Fireflies will counter with Jordan Humphreys (6-1) with a 2:05 P.M. first pitch at Spirit Communications Park.
