If things go right, one of baseball's great showmen could be within shouting distance of the Las Vegas strip -- or even Broadway -- at some point this season.
Cody Decker, who was released by the Brewers on March 28, signed a Minor League contract with the Mets on Monday. The 30-year-old slugger confirmed the deal in a text message to MiLB.com.

The California native played for Team Israel in the World Baseball Classic earlier in the spring and as a catcher in Spring Training after signing a deal with Milwaukee in January. Drafted out of UCLA as a backstop in the 22nd round by San Diego in 2009, Decker has primarily been a first baseman, but has played each corner outfield position and third base.

After getting his first taste in the Major Leagues during an eight-game stint with the Padres in 2015, Decker saw action in Triple-A with the Royals and Rockies, and in Double-A with the Red Sox in 2016.
He's compiled a slash line of .262/.341/.520 with 173 homers and 185 doubles over his career.
All the while, Decker has gained notice for being entertaining off the field, as well -- he's a filmmaker, comedian, actor, trivia night host and general wit on Twitter.
