TRENTON, NJ - Kevin Smith's two-out, two-run home run in the top of the eighth proved to be the difference in a 4-2 triumph for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays) over the Trenton Thunder (Yankees) Thursday night at ARM & HAMMER Park.

Tied at one until the eighth, Josh Palacios worked a key one-out walk on 11 pitches before Logan Warmoth tripled him home to give the Fisher Cats a 2-1 advantage. Smith came to the plate two batters later and launched his team-best eighth home run deep into the New Jersey night to plate a pair and make it 4-1 New Hampshire.
Trenton struck first for a run in the bottom of the opening frame. Zack Zehner tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly from Ben Ruta.
The 'Cats answered in the top of the second. Smith hit his third lead-off double of the road trip then came home when Vinny Capra singled with two outs.
Yennsy Diaz logged his seventh quality start of the season with six innings in which he allowed one run on six hits, issued no walks and struck out five.
Trenton managed to score a run with two outs in the ninth, but Jackson McClelland (S, 1) came on with two outs and two on to get the potential winning run to fly out to end the game.

- Justin Dillon (W, 10) pitched a perfect seventh that included a strikeout.
- Danny Young retired five in a row to earn his third hold of the season.
- Logan Warmoth's three hits were the most he's recorded in a DoubleA game this season.
The series continues Friday night at ARM & HAMMER Park. RHP Hector Pere (4-3, 5.35 ERA) gets the nod for the 'Cats while RHP Rony Garcia (1-5, 5.67 ERA) will for the Thunder.
