NASHVILLE, TN. - The Nashville Sounds (2–3) fell to the Charlotte Knights (4-1) with a score of 9-3 in the second game of this week's series at First Horizon Park. Luis Lara went 3-for-4, added a homer and two RBI in the loss.

The Charlotte Knights got the night going in the top of the second inning as a ground out knocked in one run after starting pitcher Carlos Rodriguez fired a ball to second on a pickoff attempt but was unsuccessful which led to the 1-0 lead. The Sounds answered right back as Luis Lara ripped his second homer of the season to left field and tied it up 1-1 in the bottom of the second inning.

The Knights took on a larger lead with a 5-1 score as the team scored four unanswered runs in the third and fourth innings off of starter Rodriguez. He finished the night allowing five runs on eight hits in 3.1 innings pitched and added two strikeouts in his first start for the Sounds this season.

Right-hander Peter Strzelecki entered the game for Rodriguez in the top of the fourth inning and posted 1.2 scoreless innings and fanned just one in his brief relief outing. The southpaw Brian Fitzpatrick made his second appearance of the season in tonight's game and posted two scoreless innings with one walk.

The Sounds made some noise in the bottom of the seventh inning as Tyler Black led off the inning with a walk. After the Knights tossed a wild pitch and advanced Black to second, Lara continued his dominant night hitting a single into center that scored Black for the three-run deficit. A couple batters later, Ethan Murray was hit-by-pitch with loaded bases and crossed home another run for the 5-3 lead still in favor of the Knights.

After a quiet eighth, right-hander Kaleb Bowman entered the game but struggled in the top of the ninth inning as the Knights scored four straight insurance runs as the deficit grew to 9-3. Bowman was responsible for all four runs allowed as Blake Holub came in for Bowman and inherited three runners, allowing one to score.

The Sounds had one last opportunity in the bottom of the ninth inning as Greg Jones was hit-by-pitch to get on base and after Jones stole his fourth base of the season, they had two more opportunities to score but Luke Adams and Murray did not come through as the Sounds fell 9-3.

The Sounds continue this week's six-game series against the Charlotte Knights on Thursday, April 2 with first pitch set for 6:35 p.m. CT as RHP Garrett Stallings will get his first start of the year.

POSTGAME NOTES:

5.2L POWER STROKE: Luis Lara continues to swing a big bat for Nashville. The 21-year-old Brewers no. 12-ranked prospect slugged his second home run of the season on Wednesday night. The 402-ft solo shot in the bottom of the second inning ties his total from the 2025 season in which he played 136 games for Double-A Biloxi. Lara produced a single-season career-high with four home runs in 110 games for High-A Wisconsin in 2024 and is now halfway to that mark through his first five Triple-A games. Lara went 129 games between his two home runs with the Shuckers a season ago. After his 3-for-4 night at the plate, Lara is hitting .400 through his first 20 at-bats of the season. He had eight 3+ hit games for Biloxi in 2025 and has 24 such games in his professional career.

DON'T STREZ: Peter Strzelecki tossed a clean sheet over his 1.2 IP in relief of Carlos Rodriguez. Strzelecki entered the game with the bases loaded and one out in the top of the fourth inning and induced a pair of groundouts to limit the damage. The right-hander posted seven scoreless appearances in his limited 18 games between Triple-A Indianapolis and Durham last year. Entering his appearance on Wednesday night, Strzelecki had allowed a .395 BAA with the bases loaded (17-for-43) and 37 RBI.

FITZ-MAGIC: After pitching two scoreless innings, LHP Brian Fitzpatrick has not allowed a run through his first two appearances of the season (3.0 IP). Fitzpatrick worked seven scoreless games during his 13-game stint with the Sounds to end the 2025 season. Six of the 14 earned runs he has allowed during his Triple-A tenure came in his Nashville debut on August 9 in 0.2 IP against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp. Since then, Fitzpatrick has not allowed more than two runs in any of his 14 appearances.

PUT IT ALL ON BLACK: Tyler Black extended his hitting streak to four games with a single in the bottom of the eighth inning Wednesday night. His four-game streak is currently the best on the club in the early part of the season. Black hit safely in seven consecutive games to set his season-long during the 2025 season from August 21-30 and he had four different hitting streaks of 4+ games last season.
