Space Cowboys Third-Straight Walk-Off Victory Sends Sugar Land To Sweep Of Salt Lake

Pecko Ties Career High With Nine Strikeouts Over 5.1 Inning

Trailing by run going to the bottom of the ninth inning, the Sugar Land Space Cowboys (25-8, 57-50) continued their walk-off ways, rallying to claim a thrilling 4-3 victory over the Salt Lake Bees (10-23, 49-58) on Sunday night at Constellation Field.

Salt Lake struck first in the third inning when Arol Vera reached base and later scored on an RBI single from Gustavo Campero, giving the Bees an early 1-0 lead.

Sugar Land answered in the bottom of the fourth inning as Pascanel Ferreras launched a solo home run to even the score at one. Joey Loperfido followed with a double before Raynel Delgado ripped an RBI single to center field, bringing home Loperfido and putting the Space Cowboys in front, 2-1.

The Bees responded immediately in the top of the fifth inning. Logan Porter opened the frame with a double before Kyren Paris lined an RBI double to center field, bringing home Arol Vera to tie the game at two. After Nelson Rada advanced to third, Niko Kavadas delivered an RBI single to give Salt Lake a 3-2 lead.

Sugar Land’s bullpen helped keep the Space Cowboys close over the final four frames. Kai-Wei Teng fired 1.2 shutout innings with three strikeouts, while RHP Alimber Santa threw a scoreless eighth, working around a one-out double. RHP Miguel Ullola (W, 4-4) was called upon for the ninth inning, and after hitting the first two batters, struck out the side to strand a pair.

Trailing by one heading into the bottom of the ninth, Sugar Land mounted another late-inning comeback. Delgado opened the inning with a single before Jake Meyers followed with a base hit to put the tying and winning runs on base. Trenton Brooks laid down a sacrifice bunt to move both runners into scoring position, and Matt Thaiss delivered the game-winning hit with a two-run RBI single to left field, giving the Space Cowboys their third-straight walk-off win and their fifth walk-off victory of the homestand.

NOTABLE:

  • The Space Cowboys completed their first sweep of the season on Sunday night, claiming all six games of the week against Salt Lake. It was Sugar Land’s second ever six-game sweep of Salt Lake (other, June 4 – 9, 2024) at Salt Lake and their second ever six-game sweep of an opponent at Constellation Field after Sugar Land swept Reno from May 13 – 18, 2025.
  • Sugar Land finished their season-long two-week homestand with a 10-2 record. It ties the most wins in a single homestand in franchise history, matching when Sugar Land went 10-1 from May 20 – June 1, 2021.
  • With Sunday night’s win, the Space Cowboys improved to a season-best seven games above .500, moving to 57-50 overall and 25-8 in the second half.
  • Through 24 games at home in the second half, the Space Cowboys are 20-4, the most wins at home in the second half of the season in Minor League Baseball.
  • The Space Cowboys pitching staff recorded 16 strikeouts on Sunday night, tied for the most strikeouts in a single game this season, matching when Sugar Land punched out 16 on April 3 at Jacksonville. It was the seventh consecutive game that Sugar Land has struck out at least 13 batters in a game, extending their franchise best mark while also taking sole possession of the longest streak with 13 or more strikeouts in Minor League Baseball in 2026.
  • RHP Ethan Pecko matched his career high with nine strikeouts over 5.1 innings on Sunday night. It marked the fourth time in his career that he has recorded nine strikeouts in a game and the first time since September 12, 2025 at Round Rock.
  • Jake Meyers reached base in all four plate appearances on Sunday night, going 4-for-4 with a run scored.

After their six-game series against the Salt Lake Bees, the Sugar Land Space Cowboys head to Albuquerque to begin a six-game series against the Isotopes on Tuesday. Both teams have yet to announce a starting pitcher as first pitch is scheduled for 7:35 pm CT.
