The Biloxi Shuckers (43-46, 9-13 2nd Half) rallied in the seventh inning to top the Montgomery Biscuits (41-43, 13-9 2nd Half) 5-3 on Tuesday night at MGM Park.

Montgomery cracked the scoreboard first in the third inning on a solo home run by Kameron Misner, his 13th of the season, to make it 1-0 Biscuits.

Biloxi replied and took the lead in the bottom of the frame. Andruw Monasterio led off with a walk then stole second before scoring on a double to the left-field gap by Garrett Mitchell, squaring the game at 1-1. Joey Wiemer then singled to move Mitchell into scoring position and Cam Devanney delivered the go-ahead run with a single to left, making it 2-1 Biloxi.

RHP Victor Castañeda turned in his best outing since late May, retiring 10 of the final 11 batters he faced, issuing just a walk in the sixth over his final three frames. The righty struck out three and allowed just one run over six innings.

The Shuckers added on a run in the home half of the sixth on a walk to Brent Diaz and a two-out double by Sal Frelick, widening the Biloxi lead to 3-1. Montgomery came back and tied the game in the top of the seventh on a bases-loaded walk and a fielder’s choice, but RHP Arnaldo Hernandez (W, 5-1) struck out the last batter to strand the go-ahead run at third.

In the home half of the seventh, Biloxi retook the lead thanks to the speed of their base runners. Mitchell started the inning with an infield single against RHP Andrew Gross (L, 1-2). Cam Devanney then hit a bouncer to third that Frank fielded and threw to second, attempting to retire Mitchell. The Shuckers’ center fielder slid in safely, and then a throwing error from Brett Wisley got away from first and allowed Mitchell to score all the way from second, putting Biloxi up 4-3.

A solo home run from Frelick in the bottom of the eighth inning added on an insurance run, his fifth of the season and third homer in the last five games. RHP Cam Robinson (S,1) entered in the ninth inning and gave up a single and a walk but struck out two to lock down his first save at Double-A and his Minor League leading 20th save of the season.

Seeking their third straight win, the Shuckers continue their six-game series with the Biscuits on Wednesday night. Biloxi will send RHP T.J. Shook (2-1, 4.99) to the hill opposite Montgomery RHP Evan McKendry (0-4, 3.95) for a 6:35 pm. The game can be seen on MiLB.TV and heard locally on WGCM AM 1240/FM 100.9 or online here.
