Arkansas Travelers outfielder/first baseman Spencer Packard has been named Texas League Player of the Week for August 7-13 by Minor League Baseball. Packard batted a league best .538 over six games last week going 14-26 with three walks, three doubles, two homers and nine runs batted in. His .586 OBP

Arkansas Travelers outfielder/first baseman Spencer Packard has been named Texas League Player of the Week for August 7-13 by Minor League Baseball. Packard batted a league best .538 over six games last week going 14-26 with three walks, three doubles, two homers and nine runs batted in. His .586 OBP and five extra base hits also led the league last week. Packard connected for at least two hits in every contest. He has posted multiple hits in each of his last eight games and is on a 15 game hitting streak overall, the longest of the season for a Travs player.

For the season, Packard is hitting .296/.397/.459 in 92 games. He has connected for 19 doubles, a triple and 12 home runs while driving in 69. Additionally, he has walked 52 times against only 63 strikeouts. He currently ranks fifth in the league in batting average and on-base percentage and is tied for sixth in runs batted in. Packard was the Mariners ninth round draft pick in 2021 out of Campbell University. His award is the fifth league weekly award for a Travelers player this season joining teammates Emerson Hancock (twice), Bryan Woo and Robbie Tenerowicz.
