Spinners Blow Out Cyclones

BROOKLYN, NY - Coming in to the second game of a three-game series in Brooklyn (10-3) the Spinners (5-6) hoped to snap a two-game losing streak and responded with their most complete victory of the young season.
Lowell struck first in the top of the third when Jonathan Ortega got the inning started with a two-out walk. After stealing a pair of bases, Jarren Duran put the Spinners on the board with an RBI single. After Cole Brannen drew a walk, catcher Kole Cottam blasted his first professional home run to make it 4-0.
The offense continued to roll in the top of the fourth when Tyler Dearden led off the inning with a double. Xavier LeGrant immediately followed up with a double of his own to push the lead to five. Ramfis Berroa joined in on the action with an RBI-single to make it 6-0 after four.
Devlin Granberg led off the fifth with a single and Dearden drew a walk to put two on before LeGrant loaded the bases with a single. Berroa continued his strong outing with another single to push the lead to seven. A bases loaded wild pitch brought Dearden to give Lowell an eight-run lead.
Starting pitcher Eduardo Bazardo turned in his best start of the season to date. Coming in to the day as the New York-Penn League leader in strikeouts, Bazardo struck out five over six shutout innings while only allowing a pair of hits and no walks, enough to pick up his first win of the season.
The scoring continued in the top of the seventh when Tyler Dearden was hit by a pitch to get the inning started. After Berroa's third single of the day and another walk from Jonathan Ortega to load the bases, Jarren Duran singled up the middle to give the Spinners a ten-run lead.
Lowell continued to add to the lead in the top of the eighth after Devlin Granberg doubled to set up an RBI-single from Tyler Dearden to make it 11-0.
Brooklyn got on the board in the board in the bottom of eighth. Oddanier Mosqueda allowed a pair of earned runs in two innings of relief, two strikeouts, two walks, and three hits.
Francisco Lopez-Soto closed it out for the Spinners with a scoreless ninth inning to lock down the 11-2 victory.
With the victory, the Spinners wrap up their six-game road trip on Tuesday with Brian Brown taking the hill for the Spinners. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
