ROCHESTER, NY (September 12, 2026) – The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders lost 7-6 to the Rochester Red Wings on Saturday night at ESL Ballpark. The RailRiders built a 6-0 lead, but the Red Wings rallied in the sixth and seventh to steal the win.

Marco Luciano staked Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to a 1-0 lead in the second with his second home run in the last two games.

The RailRiders extended the lead in the third with a pair of home runs off Red Wings starter Chandler Champlain. Max Schueman drilled a first-pitch sinker down the left-field line for a 2-0 edge. With two down, Luciano walked, and Yanquiel Fernández skyed his team-best 26th home run to right for a 4-0 lead.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre added a pair in the sixth on two-out hits from Tyler Hardman and Duke Ellis. Rochester countered with a ten-batter, six-run home half, keyed by a game-tying two-run single by Sam Peterson.

The Red Wings took the lead in the seventh on a single, wild pitch and run-scoring hit from Riley Adams.

The RailRiders had the tying run on in the eighth and ninth but could not level the score.

Adam Kloffenstein worked five-plus innings, striking out eight over five scoreless before he was tagged for all six runs in the sixth. Yerry De Los Santos (3-3) took the loss after a blown save. Max Kranick (1-0) earned the win with a scoreless seventh, and Gus Varland notched his eighth save to close the game.

Rochester moved a game ahead of Scranton/Wilkes-Barre with seven games left to play this season.

Alexander Cornielle takes the ball for the RailRiders on Sunday against Zak Kent and the Red Wings in the series finale.
