Rosh, a senior ticket sales account executive with future goals of running his own ticket department, never saw himself in sales until an opportunity came knocking. A 2011 graduate of IUPUI, a project with Get Real Sports Sales led to a position with the Indians.
When he realized the family nature of those relationships created through ticket sales with the Indians, he knew it was the place and job for him.
Over 600 miles away from his hometown of Sayre, Penn., Rosh created an extended family in Indianapolis through relationships cultivated with season ticket holders and clients. The icing on the cake? He gets to watch his young daughter, Reese, grow up around the ballpark.
What are you most proud of during your time with the Indians?
First off, when we set the average attendance record for Victory Field during the 2014 season. Now, the job that we’ve done throughout the course of the pandemic keeping in touch with clients and fans, letting them know what’s been going on and cultivating those relationships.
How have you been able to stay on track with the pandemic?
We’ve been calling fans from 2019 and seeing how their experience was with us. Normally, we don’t get to have those in-depth conversations a whole lot, so it’s been cool. Staying in touch with season ticket holders was critical, and we built deeper relationships with clients this year. It wasn’t just calling them about their tickets, but we were calling them to check in on how they were doing during this difficult time.
What drew you to sales in the first place?
I never saw myself as a sales guy, I wanted to be in event operations. Unemployed out of college, I applied and accepted a sales job. I’m a people person and found out that I’m really good at sales, so I stuck with it.
What do you do in your free time?
I picked up the game of cornhole during the pandemic and have gotten into a couple of different leagues. If it hadn’t been for the pandemic, I never would have gotten into it like I am competitively now. I also hang out with my wife, Tonya, and my daughter, Reese, and that time has been invaluable. One of the most fun things I’ve done during the pandemic has been contributing to our inner-office cooking challenges, and I’ve even shared those videos and recipes with season ticket holders.
What’s the best or favorite thing that you’ve cooked?
Well, I think my dry-rub chicken wings are the best thing that I’ve cooked, but I really enjoy doing briskets and ribs.
How does helping the IUPUI Sales Class help you grow personally or professionally?
It’s very rewarding, some kids might not even see themselves in sales and end up finding out they’re very good at it. I learn just as much from them as they do from me.
