KISSIMMEE, Fla. (July 5, 2018) - Eight Stone Crabs recorded hits in a 13-4 victory over the Florida Fire Frogs Thursday at Osceola County Stadium.
After the Stone Crabs (40-41, 6-8) dropped a suspended game to Florida (33-46, 4-9) 5-4 in the afternoon, they brought the bats in the nightcap.
Charlotte took the lead early on a two-out Jesús Sánchez double to right center to make it 1-0.
Still leading by one in the top of the third, Miles Mastrobuoni singled to center before Josh Lowe walked. Sanchez then pulled a base hit to right to score Mastrobuoni and make it 2-0. The next batter was Jermaine Palacios , who cranked a double to the wall in left to plate a pair and extend the lead to 4-0. Jake Fraley followed with a base hit to right to cap the inning and give Charlotte a 5-0 lead.
The Stone Crabs used five hits, an error and three walks to rally for eight runs in the top of the fifth, extending their advantage to 13-1. That eight-run inning was tied for their largest of the year.
Charlotte starter Brock Burke (3-5) went six quality innings to get the win, allowing two runs on five hits. He struck out a season-best nine batters without walking anyone.
