PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (July 3, 2018) - The Charlotte Stone Crabs earned a series split with a 1-0 win Tuesday over the Fort Myers Miracle in front of 6,538 fans at Charlotte Sports Park.
Chris Archer  combined with Blake Bivens  (5-1) for a two-hit shutout, the team's fifth shutout of the year.
With the game scoreless the bottom of the fifth, Charlotte (39-40, 5-7) left fielder Miles Mastrobuoni  reached on a bunt with one out. Two batters later, Josh Lowe drove in the only run with an RBI double to left that scored Mastrobuoni. 
On the other side of the ball, Archer went four strong innings, finishing with a line of seven strikeouts and one walk, without allowing a hit. Bivens received the win, going five innings and only allowing two hits while striking out four Miracle (35-45, 7-5) batters in the process. 
Only one Fort Myers runner reached scoring position in the entire game. Archer and Bivens combined to retire 17 consecutive batters until Alex Kirilloff notched a hit in the seventh. They struck out seven of those 17 batters. 
The Stone Crabs will head to Kissimmee Wednesday to face the Florida Fire Frogs. The Stone Crabs will send left-hander Kenny Rosenberg  (5-1, 4.70) to the mound to face fellow south paw Kyle Muller (3-1, 3.10). First pitch is scheduled for 6:31 p.m. Coverage starts at 6:16 p.m. on the Stone Crabs Baseball Network.
