BRADENTON, Fla. (June 3, 2018) - The Stone Crabs drew a season-high 10 walks Sunday, salvaging the finale of their series with the Bradenton Marauders, winning 10-1 at LECOM Park.
Five of the ten walks that Charlotte (25-27) drew came around to score.
The Stone Crabs got on the board on the first after Brendan McKay walked and advanced to second when Tristan Gray was hit by a pitch. After a balk moved the runners to second and third, Jesús Sánchez drove in a run with a ground ball to give Charlotte a 1-0 lead.
Still up by that score in the top of the fourth, Bradenton (28-23) walked the bases loaded before Lucius Fox lined a single to center to make the score 3-0. McKay then drove in a run on an infield single to extend the lead to 4-0.
In the top of the fifth, Sanchez singled to left before Maris advanced him to first on a double down the first base line. After a walk loaded the bases, Rene Pinto socked a bases-clearing double to center, extending the Stone Crabs' lead to 7-0.
After the Marauders scored one in the sixth, McKay lined a two-run double to right to cap the scoring at 10-1.
Left-hander Kenny Rosenberg (4-1) went 4.1 innings to get the win, allowing just one run while striking out six. Reliever Trevor Charpie went 3.2 scoreless innings of relief to earn his first save of the season.
