Storm Flood Ports with 15 runs in Game Four Loss

STOCKTON, Calif. – Game four of the six game series with Lake Elsinore got away from the Ports on Friday night, as the Storm pulled away with a steady downpour of runs to hand the Ports a 15-5 defeat at Banner Island Ballpark.

Stockton loaded the bases in the first with one out on three walks, but were only able to scratch a run across against Kruz Schoolcraft on a bases-loaded walk by Nate Nankil to take a 1-0 lead.

In the second inning, an RBI single from Jose Verdugo was followed by an RBI triple for George Bilecki put the Storm up 2-1 that gave them a lead for good. They tacked on two more when Yimy Tovar belted his first Cal League home run in his 40th game for the Storm and Qrey Lott lifted a sac fly to left to put the Storm ahead 5-1.

The Ports threatened in the fourth with two aboard and one out, and had the bases loaded and two out but couldn’t convert with the tying run at the plate. They put two aboard with one out in the fifth but stranded two runners again.

Lake Elsinore stretched out their lead in the in the sixth inning with four more runs with the Ports committing a pair of errors to aid the Storm to put them ahead 9-1. They tacked on four more runs in a seventh inning when Lake Elsinore batted around, and Tovar launched his second home run of the night to go up 13-1. The Storm scored two more in the eighth on a double from George Bilecki to go up 15-1.

Stockton got a sac fly from Michael Brooks and a three-run homer (6) from Breyson Guedez to make it a 15-5 game and cap the scoring.

UP NEXT: Game five is set for a 7:05 PM first pitch with RHP Tyler Schmitt (6-5, 4.66) starting for Lake Elsinore versus LHP Jackson Phipps (3-3, 7.28) for Stockton.
