Hagerstown, MD - Branden Boggetto had three hits as the Suns lost the final game of a seven-game home stand against the Rome Braves 6-3 on Sunday afternoon. The Suns are 7-17 overall and have an off day on Monday before heading to Greensboro on Tuesday for a three-game series that starts a seven-game road trip.

The Suns took an early lead with three runs in the first inning against Braves starter Alan Rangel. Cole Freeman singled to right and stole second, going to third on an errant throw by catcher William Contreras. With two outs, Anderson Franco singled to center, scoring Freeman and giving Hagerstown a 1-0 lead. Nick Banks singled to right, and Boggetto doubled to right-center to drive in both baserunners and give the Suns an early 3-0 lead.
The Braves picked up a run in the second against Suns starter Carlos Acevedo. Kurt Hoekstra walked with one out and Garrison Schwartz did the same. Derian Cruz singled to left to score Hoekstra and bring Rome within a pair of runs at 3-1.
Rome tied the game in the fourth with Acevedo still on the bump. With one out Isranel Wilson singled to center and Cruz launched a homer to right field, tying the game at 3-3. Acevedo struck out the next two hitters to end the inning.
Wilson tied the game with one swing against Suns reliever Sam Held in the sixth. With two outs, Wilson smacked his second home run of the season, a towering shot to right field to give the Braves a 4-3 advantage.
In the ninth, Rome capped off their scoring with a pair of runs against Suns reliever Max Engelbrekt. Cruz reached on an error at short stop and with one out, Jefrey Ramos homered to center field. Cruz and Ramos both scored to extend the Brave's lead to 6-3.
Hagerstown got a runner in the ninth with two outs when Boggetto singled to center for his third hit of the game. He stole second base, but Kameron Esthay struck out to end the game with the Suns losing their 17th game of the season.
Acevedo threw four innings in a no decision, allowing three runs on five hits with three walks and five strikeouts. Held (1-2) took his second loss of the season, allowing one run on three hits and a walk over three innings of work. Engelbrekt threw 1.1 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on one hit with a walk and a strikeout. Jeremy McKinney got the final two outs in the ninth, allowing a hit with two strikeouts.
Notes: Acevedo tied his season-high of four innings pitched… He also set a new season-high with five strikeouts… Boggetto had his fourth multi-hit game of the season… It was also his third of the week… He also had his second multi-RBI game of the season… Freeman had his fourth multi-hit game of the year… It was the first Sunday home game of the year… The Suns have an off-day on Monday but will be back in action on Tuesday against the Greensboro Grasshoppers.
