Syracuse, NY – The Syracuse Mets received a three-hit performance from Ronny Mauricio and a strong pitching performance to earn a 5-1 win over the Worcester Red Sox on Tuesday night at NBT Bank Stadium.

Syracuse (22-23, 60-60) jumped in front in the third inning. Jose Ramos singled before Émilien Pitre doubled for his first Triple-A hit to put runners at second and third. Ramos scored when a balk was charged to the Worcester pitcher, and Mauricio followed with a two-run home run to right-center field, his 15th homer of the season, giving the Mets a 3-0 lead.

The Mets added to their advantage in the fifth. Pitre singled with one out before Nick Morabito reached on a forceout. Mauricio then doubled to center field, scoring Morabito and making it a 4-0 game. Mauricio was thrown out trying to stretch the double into a triple.

Worcester (26-19, 62-54) got on the board in the seventh. Romy Gonzalez singled with two outs before Allan Castro doubled to left field, bringing Gonzalez home and cutting Syracuse's lead to 4-1.

Syracuse answered in the eighth. Mauricio drew a one-out walk and moved to third when Billy Amick doubled to center field for his first Triple-A hit. Mauricio scored on the play, extending the Mets' lead to 5-1.

Xzavion Curry tossed five no-hit innings, allowed just one baserunner, and recorded four strikeouts. Tobias Myers worked three innings with four strikeouts before Ben Simon retired the Red Sox in order in the ninth to finish the win.

Mauricio led the Mets offensively, going 3-for-3 with a home run, double, single, a walk, three runs batted in and a stolen base. Pitre added two hits, including a double, while Amick contributed a double and an RBI in their Triple-A debuts. Syracuse's pitching staff limited Worcester to one run on four hits.

The Mets continue their series against the Red Sox Wednesday night at NBT Bank Stadium. First pitch is slated for 6:35 p.m.
