Syracuse Mets Recap: Syracuse Drops Series to Rochester with 3-1 Loss Saturday Night

Rochester, N.Y. – Jonathan Santucci struck out seven in his Triple-A debut, but the Syracuse Mets fell to the Rochester Red Wings, 3-1, on Saturday night at ESL Ballpark.

Rochester (18-14, 63-42) broke through in the second inning. Riley Adams singled before Leandro Pineda tripled to right field to score the game's first run. Phillip Glasser then walked, and Christian Franklin followed with an RBI double to right, giving the Red Wings a 2-0 lead.

Syracuse (13-18, 51-55) got one run back in the sixth when Hayden Senger launched a solo home run to left-center field, his ninth homer of the season, cutting the deficit to 2-1.

The Red Wings answered in the bottom half of the inning. Leandro Pineda doubled with one out and scored on Christian Franklin's RBI single to left, extending Rochester's lead to 3-1.

The Mets were limited to four hits and did not advance a runner past first base after the sixth inning.

Santucci turned in an encouraging Triple-A debut despite taking the loss. The left-hander allowed two runs on five hits over four innings, walking five and striking out seven. Dylan Ross took over in the fourth, recording three strikeouts. Nate Lavender surrendered one run on three hits in one inning of work, striking out two. Dedniel Núñez tossed a scoreless seventh with one strikeout, and Jefry Yan retired all three batters he faced in the eighth.

Senger's home run accounted for Syracuse's only run, while Ryan Clifford and Jihwan Bae each collected singles.

The Mets conclude their six-game series with the Red Wings on Sunday afternoon at ESL Ballpark. Right-hander Tobias Myers is scheduled to start for Syracuse against Rochester left-hander Jackson Kent. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
