Tanaka is slated to make the start for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday. The 29-year-old pitcher was placed on the Yankees 10-Day Disabled List on June 9 with two mild hamstring strains.
Media access will be limited to press credentialed by the RailRiders, Minor League Baseball and those permitted by the New York Yankees or Major League Baseball. All other requests are subject to approval by the RailRiders and Yankees. Tanaka will be available in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre clubhouse at a designated time after his outing concludes.
The RailRiders clubhouse is open to general media access after home batting practice at approximately 4:45 p.m.
New York signed Tanaka on January 22, 2014, and he made his Major League debut on April 4 of that same year. In 13 starts this season, he is 7-2 with a 4.58 earned run average with 73 strikeouts and 19 walks over 72.2 innings pitched. Over his five year Major League career, Tanaka holds a 59-30 mark.
Tanaka made two rehab starts for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in 2015, placing the RailRiders on the list with the Yankees and the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles as the only teams the Japanese-born pitcher has ever played for professionally.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre plays at home on July 4 and 5, with a 12:05 p.m. first pitch scheduled for Thursday, before traveling to Pawtucket for a three-game series leading into the Triple-A All-Star break.
