Tarpons' seventh inning rally beats Stone Crabs

TAMPA, Fla. (April 28, 2018) - Nate Lowe homered for the third time in the series, but the Tampa Tarpons scored three times in the bottom of the seventh to take the lead and beat the Charlotte Stone Crabs 5-4 Saturday night at Steinbrenner Field.
With the Stone Crabs (11-12) leading 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh, Hoy Jun Park led off the inning with a home run down the right field line to tie the game against Charlotte reliever J.D. Busfield (0-2). After Busfield hit a batter and got a fielder's choice, Adam Lind singled to right to put runners at the corners with one out.
The Stone Crabs then brought in Roel Ramirez , who got a strikeout before inducing a groundball from Alexander Palma. Charlotte shortstop Tristan Gray could not make a backhand play deep in the hole, allowing the go-ahead run to score on Palma's infield single. Angel Aguilar followed by pulling a double into the left field corner to extend the Tarpons' (13-10) lead to 5-3.
The Stone Crabs added a run in the eighth on a Kevin Padlo sacrifice fly but stranded the tying run on base in both the eighth and the ninth.
 Charlotte held a lead for the first six innings before the Tampa rally in the seventh. They got the offense going early against Tarpons starter Nick Green. After Miles Mastrobuoni walked to start the game, Robbie Tenerowicz singled with one out. Lowe followed by blasting an opposite field home run to give the Stone Crabs a 3-0 lead.
Lowe has gone 6-for-8 with three home runs, and 9 RBI in his last two games.
Charlotte starter Brock Burke turned in 5.1 innings of two-run ball, striking out six while walking only one.
The Stone Crabs will look to earn a split of this weekend's series Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. when Brandon Lawson (0-2, 5.69) takes the mound. Coverage begins at 12:45 p.m. on the Stone Crabs Baseball Network.
