ROUND ROCK, Texas - Following a vote of Pacific Coast League field managers, Albuquerque Isotopes outfielder Mike Tauchman has been elected the League's Player of the Month for May. Tauchman, along with winners from other leagues, will be presented with an award from Minor League Baseball in recognition of his performance last month.

Among Triple-A players, Tauchman compiled the most hits (44), total bases (81) and runs (31), batting .379 (44-for-116) in 29 games. The suburban Chicago native registered 19 extra-base hits, including eight home runs, and drove in 24, totals that were second-best in the PCL. Tauchman got on base at a .426 clip and posted a .698 slugging percentage, accounting for a 1.125 OPS, a mark that was also second-highest in the League.

The 27-year-old collected hits in 23-of-29 contests, including 12 multi-hit games. Tauchman matched his single-game career-best of four hits on three occasions, two of which contributed to Albuquerque wins, May 2 at Tacoma and May 27 at Sacramento. He hit his first career grand slam in a May 6 win over El Paso; Tauchman added a pair of doubles and finished with three hits, three runs and a career-high five RBI. Later in the month, the outfielder earned PCL Player of the Week recognition for the period of May 14-20 after hitting .417 (10-for-24) with a League-best five home runs, 27 total bases and eight runs.

The sixth-year professional began the campaign by making his first Major League Opening Day roster. He appeared in 15 games for Colorado before getting optioned on April 22. In 39 contests with the 'Topes, Tauchman has hit .385 (60-for-156) with nine home runs, 35 RBI, 37 runs and a 1.104 OPS. He has been with the Rockies organization for his entire career after getting selected by Colorado in the 10th round of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft out of Bradley University. He has spent parts of the last three seasons with Albuquerque, hitting .319 (335-for-1051) with 26 homers, 166 RBI in 278 games.
