Tavarez Continues Walk-Off Magic for Columbus in 3-2 Win Over Biloxi

The walk-off party for Columbus Clingstones (18-18, 47-53) kept the same theme but found a different hero as Ambioris Tavarez provided a game-winning two-run single to send Columbus home with a 3-2 win over the Biloxi Shuckers (20-16, 55-46) on Thursday night at Synovus Park.

Decisive Plays: The first pitch thrown from left-hander Cam Caminiti became a solo home run from Josh Adamczewski to begin the game as Biloxi took a 1-0 lead. Columbus went hitless through the first four innings, before a leadoff single in the fifth inning from Adam Zebrowski led to a game-tying RBI double from Kevin Kilpatrick Jr. off Biloxi right-hander Braylon Owens. Biloxi bounced back in front in the sixth inning with an RBI double from Matthew Wood. Columbus was down to its final out in the ninth inning, before Zebrowski reached on a fielding error from third baseman Andrew Fischer to extend the game. Two batters later, and with the bases loaded, Tavarez jumped on the first pitch and lined a game-winning two-run single into the gap to drive in Owen Carey and Will Verdung to continue the walk-off heroics.

Key Contributors: Tavarez (1-for-4, 2 RBI) won it with his first hit of the game while Kilpatrick Jr. (2-for-3, 2 2B) had both of the Clingstones' extra-base hits. On the mound, Caminiti (5.1 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 3 SO) settled in to turn in a solid start in his debut. For Biloxi, Adamczewski (1-for-5, HR, RBI) got the scoring started while Owens (6.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 7 SO) worked a quality start.

Notable: Columbus recorded its fifth walk-off win of the season, and third against Biloxi. Caminiti became the first Braves' No. 1 prospect to appear for Columbus. Kilpatrick is batting .375 (18-for-48) with four doubles and two home runs against Biloxi this season.
