SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Flying Chanclas improved their record to 21-5 after an 11-4 victory Friday night against Baton Rouge. The Chanclas used a seven-run fourth inning to propel them over the Rougarou.

The Baton Rouge Rougarou took an early lead by scoring a run in the top of the first inning. Reagan Paulina drew a lead-off walk. He came around to score on an RBI single from Peyton Sybrandt.

Baton Rouge held this lead until the third inning. San Antonio plated two runs to take the lead. Cole Modgling reached on a fielding error. After a walk to Cole Posey and a base hit for Zac Vooletich, Ryan Flores drove in two runners with a single to center field. The Chanclas took a 2-1 advantage and never looked back.

The Flying Chanclas added to their lead with a seven-run fourth inning. San Antonio batted around the order while recording two hits and drawing five walks. Vooletich drove in two runs with an RBI single. Augie Ramirez drove in a run with a bases loaded hit by pitch. Justin Thompson drove in a run with a bases loaded walk. Warren Laster drove in a run with a hit by pitch. Lastly, Kade Fletcher drove in a run with a bases loaded walk. The Missions took a 9-1 lead.

Baton Rouge began a late comeback attempt in the top of the eighth inning. The Rougarou plated three runs on three hits to make it a 9-4 ballgame.

San Antonio bounced back from that added two more runs in the bottom of the inning. Ian Bailey led off the inning with a walk and later scored on a wild pitch. Ramirez reached base on a walk and later scored on a bases loaded walk to Fletcher.

Kolby Lunsford was the starting pitcher for San Antonio. He improved his record to 5-1 with a win tonight. Lunsford went five innings while allowing one earned run on three hits. He also struck out eight batters.

Matt Sessler tossed 2.2 innings while allowing three unearned runs and striking out five batters. JT Moeller pitched 1.1 innings and retired all five batters he faced.

The San Antonio Flying Chanclas improve to 21-5 on the season. They are back in action Saturday, July 17th at Nelson Wolff Stadium against Baton Rouge. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
