Tetreault Hurls Suns to 3-1 Victory on Birthday

Hagerstown wins second-straight behind righty's strong outing

Kannapolis, NC - Jackson Tetreault held the Kannapolis Intimidators to one run on Sunday evening, his birthday, to help the Hagerstown Suns defeat Kannapolis 3-1 in the series finale at Intimidators Stadium. The Suns improve to 20-35 overall with their second straight win and have an off-day on Monday.

Kannapolis, NC - Jackson Tetreault held the Kannapolis Intimidators to one run on Sunday evening, his birthday, to help the Hagerstown Suns defeat Kannapolis 3-1 in the series finale at Intimidators Stadium. The Suns improve to 20-35 overall with their second straight win and have an off-day on Monday.

Hagerstown took an early lead in the second inning against Kannapolis starter John Parke in his second start of the season against the Suns. With one out, Yasel Antuna tripled to center field and scored when Paul Panaccione singled to center to give the Suns a 1-0 lead. Jeyner Baez reached on an error with Panaccione going to second while both runners scored when Armond Upshaw doubled to right to make it a 3-0 Hagerstown advantage.
Tetreault, Hagerstown's starter, didn't yield a hit to the Intimidators until the fourth inning where Kannapolis drew within two runs. Luis Curbelo led off with a single to right and went to second when Craig Dedelow singled to center. With one out, Anthony Villa grounded into a force out that retired Dedelow at second but put runners at the corners. Justin Yurchak singled on the sixth pitch of his at-bat to plate Curbelo and cut into Hagerstown's lead with the Suns still staked to a 3-1 advantage.
Tetreault (1-6) held Kannapolis to the one run on five hits with one walk and six strikeouts over six innings of work in a quality start. Jackson Stoeckinger entered in the seventh, throwing one inning while allowing two hits while earning a hold. Steven Fuentes earned his third save of the season while allowing one hit over two innings of work with three strikeouts.
Notes: Tetreault turned 22 on Sunday… He earned his first win of the season to end a seven-game personal losing streak that dated back to September 3, 2017… He has at least five strikeouts in each of his last three outings… Tetreault worked six innings for the third time in his career, all of which have been this season… Fuentes took the team lead in saves on Sunday… Stoeckinger made his first relief appearance of the season after making nine starts for the Suns… Banks has a three-game hitting streak… Upshaw had his second multi-RBI game of the season, and has 10 RBIs this year… The Suns have six wins when they are out-hit by their opponent… They are 3-2 in the rubber game of a three-game set… It's their fourth series win of the season… The Suns have an off-day on Monday… The team starts a three-game series against the Lakewood BlueClaws on Tuesday with a 7:05 PM first pitch… The broadcast can be heard, starting with the pregame show at 6:50 PM on www.hagerstownsuns.com by going to multimedia and "Listen Live" which also has downloads for a free app on the iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, and Android...
