This Date in Timber Rattlers History: July 13

July 13, 2013: The Rattlers beat Lake County in twelve innings 6–4 at home. The Game was tied 4–4 after the Captains scored twice in the top of the fourth inning. Michael Reed won the game for Wisconsin when he hit a two-run, walkoff homer in the bottom of the twelfth. The home run was Reed’s first of the season. Tyler Wagner was the starting pitcher for the Rattlers and he had eight strikeouts while scattering eleven hits in eight innings. Rodolfo Fernandez gave up one hit and had eight strikeouts over four scoreless innings of relief for the win.

2001: The Rattlers won 4–3 at Lansing in twelve innings. Jamie Bubela, who homered in the first inning at Lansing on July 12, hit a homer in the twelfth inning of this game to break a 3–3 tie. Chad Wiles worked out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the bottom of the ninth and closer Aaron Taylor pitched the final three innings. Taylor worked around a pair of one-out walks in the twelfth inning with back-to-back strikeouts to end the game. Blake Bone hit a two-run homer and John Castellano had a solo homer for Wisconsin’s other runs in the game.

2000: The Rattlers beat Dayton 17–6 at home. Ryan Christianson had three hits and five RBI and Shawn McCorkle added four hits, three runs, and two RBI to Wisconsin’s 18-hit attack. The Rattlers scored in seven of the eight innings in which they batted during the game. Also of note, this was Chris Snelling’s first game back with the team after he was injured in Fort Wayne on Jun 9. Snelling was 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBI in the game.

1998: The Rattlers beat Burlington 10–9 in ten innings at home. Wisconsin was down 9–1 in the game, but rallied to tie the game on a two-run homer by Greg Connors in the eighth inning. Mike Marchiano hit a tenth-inning, walkoff homer for the Rattlers. Patrick Williams added two solo homers to the comeback for Wisconsin.
