The Somerset Patriots defeated the Bowie Baysox by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday night at Prince George’s Stadium in Bowie, Maryland.

The win improves the Patriots to 1-0 in the second half, improving their overall record to a season-best 17 games over .500 at 43-26. Somerset is now 9-3 in series-opening games this season.

RHP Yoendrys Gomez (3.0 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 1 BB, 2 K) made his sixth start of the season and did not factor into a decision.

RHP Danny Watson (1.1 IP, 2 K) sent down all four batters he faced on 20 pitches. Watson picked up his fourth hold in nine Double-A outings, to go along with two saves and one win.

Over nine Double-A appearances, Watson still has yet to allow a run with 11.1 scoreless innings and a 0.53 WHIP. Dating back to his first outing in the month of May, Watson has now hurled 24.2 consecutive scoreless innings over 16 appearances, compiling 26 strikeouts, compared to four walks over that span.

3B Tyler Hardman (2-for-4, 2 RBI, 2 R, 2 HR, BB, 2 K) homered in each of his first two at-bats to give the Patriots two separate leads.

The performance marked Hardman’s third career two-home run game and his second over the last two weeks (June 17 vs. Altoona). Hardman’s team-leading 16 home runs now rank third in the Eastern League.

LF Everson Pereira (2-for-3, RBI, R, BB) led off the fourth inning with his ninth home run of the season. Pereira’s home run came off the top of the batters eye at Prince George’s Stadium and traveled 433 feet.

Pereira’s homer was the first in a set of back-to-back homers for the Patriots with Tyler Hardman. It was Somerset’s fourth set of back-to-back home runs this year and their first since June 3 vs. Portland.

The Yankees No. 4 prospect, Pereira has now homered in two of three games since returning from injury, going 4-for-7 with 4 RBI, 5 R, 2 HR and 2 BB over that span.

Pereira’s homer extended a 15-game on-base streak dating back to May 16. During the streak, Pereira is slashing .440/.508/.800 with 10 RBI, 10 R, 5 HR, 8 BB and a 1.308 OPS.
