OREM, UT - The Ogden Raptors played long ball Saturday night in Orem, but the shots were too little, too late as the visitors fell, 18-5.
After both teams went in order in the first, the Owlz went wild and picked up nine runs while sending 14 batters to the plate in the second.
Ramon Rodriguez got two runs back for the Raptors in the third, hitting a moonshot to left for his third home run of the season with Andrew Shaps on base.
Orem answered the shot by Rodriguez with two runs of their own in the third, and they added a solo blast and three-run home run to put the game further out of reach in the sixth.
Andy Pages got into the act with a laser to left-center in the eighth, his team-leading 16th of the campaign.
After the hosts put up three runs in the eighth against a pair of Raptors position players on the mound, Shaps notched his third round tripper of the season in the ninth, a two-run shot for the final tallies.
The Raptors and Owlz play the second game of their two-game series Sunday at 4:00 PM.
