GRAND CHUTE, WI - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers returned to action after three rainouts and a day off with a 5-2 win over the Bowling Green Hot Rods Tuesday night at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium. Gilbert Lara broke a 2-2 tie with a solo homer in the bottom of the fifth inning and the Rattler added on to their lead for the win. The win moved the Rattlers back to .500.

Wisconsin (11-11) took the lead in the bottom of the second inning. Ronnie Gideon drew a walk with one out. Joantgel Segovia followed with a double to left. Gideon would score when the ball was bobbled on the warning track and the Rattlers were up 1-0.

Tucker Neuhaus doubled to start the Wisconsin half of the fourth inning. Ronnie Gideon followed with a single to center. Neuhaus held at third until the throw to the infield got away. He would score on the error and the Rattlers led 2-0.
Bowling Green (10-13) tied the game in the top of the fifth inning. Josh Lowe hit a two-run home run to center with no outs.

Those were the only runs that Wisconsin starting pitcher Thomas Jankins would allow in the game. He tossed five innings, walked two, and struck out four.
Gilbert Lara put the Rattlers back in front right away in the bottom of the fifth. The Timber Rattlers shortstop crushed a 3-1 pitch over the wall in left for a lead-off home run and the Rattlers were up 3-2. Later in the inning Demi Orimoloye drew a walk, stole second, and stole third. He would score on a wild pitch and the Rattlers were up 4-2.

Wisconsin added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth inning. Monte Harrison bunted and wound up on third base after Bowling Green's fourth error of the night. Neuhaus lined a single to center to knock in Harrison and the Rattlers had a three-run lead.

Daniel Brown took over at the start of the Bowling Green seventh inning and closed out the game with three scoreless innings for his second save of the season.

Bowling Green outhit the Timber Rattlers 8-4, but Wisconsin's defense helped to keep the Hot Rods in check by turning three double plays in the game.
Game two of the series is scheduled for Wednesday night at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium. Cameron Roegner (1-0, 10.32) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. The Hot Rods have named JD Busfield (2-0, 1.69) as their starter. Game time is 6:35pm.
