The Palm Beach Cardinals relied on starting pitcher Tink Hence as well as their bullpen en route to a 1-0 win over the Lakeland Flying Tigers at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium on Wednesday night.

Allowing just five hits against the Detroit farm club, a Thomas Francisco RBI single in the third was the only run needed for the Cardinals to even the six-game series after Tuesday's loss.

Tink Hence saw his earned run average drop to 0.99 with the four-inning start. The No. 9 overall Cardinals prospect struck out eight batters, and the 19-year-old allowed just two baserunners in his no-decision.

The Beach Bird bullpen picked up where Hence left off, with Alfredo Ruiz taking the win after delivering a scoreless fifth inning. Jack Ralston received a one and 1/3 inning hold, and Bryan Pope recorded an eight-out save to secure the team's win on Wednesday. The relief trio combined for five strikeouts.

Offensively, Francisco led the way for Palm Beach, going 3-3 with a walk and the matchup's sole RBI.

The Cardinals will look to take a series lead on Thursday night, with the 6:30 p.m. tilt also being Thirsty Thursday at the park! Enjoy $1, $2, and $3 beer specials presented by Southern Eagle Distributing!
