Top Pitching Prospect Alec Hansen Promoted To Birmingham
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham Barons and the Chicago White Sox announced before the game today that the team has activated and promoted top prospect Alec Hansen to Birmingham. A corresponding move will be made TBD to keep the active at 25.

Hansen, 22, began the season at Single-A Kannapolis, before being promoted to the Winston-Salem on June 22. Combined this season between the Intimidators and the Dash, Hansen is 11-8, with a 2.68 ERA in 24 starts, going 7-3, with a 2.48 ERA in Kannapolis and 4-5, with a 2.93 ERA in Winston-Salem. The right-hander is currently ranked second in all of Minor League Baseball in strikeouts with 174 in 131 innings pitched, trailing only Cleveland prospect
The Loveland, Colo. native attended the University of Oklahoma and pitched three years for the Sooners before being selected by the White Sox in the second round (49th overall) in 2016. Hansen was named an honorable mention All-Big 12 and First Team Academic All-Big 12 as a sophomore in 2015, after starting in 15 games, while going 5-6, with a 3.95 ERA and 94 strikeouts.
The Barons will return continue their final home series of the season this afternoon against the Tennessee Smokies, with first pitch set for 3:00 p.m. CT on a Salute to Armed Forces Sunday at Regions Field. Right-hander
