Tough Tuesday: SWB Drops 8-5 Behind Red Sox Rehabbers

WORCESTER, MA (August 25, 2026) – The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders dropped the series opener 8-5 to the Worcester Red Sox. A five-run seventh catapulted the home team to victory along with their three Major League rehabbing bats.

Worcester capitalized on four walks and an error in the second inning to take a 2-0 lead. Major League rehabbers Isiah Kiner-Falefa, Roman Anthony, and Trevor Story all earned free passes.

The home team added one more in the third off the bat of #1 prospect Franklin Arias.

Marco Luciano broke up a perfect game by Jedixson Paez in the fifth inning. His solo shot was the RailRiders first hit and run of the contest.

SWB sent eight to the plate in the next frame to score three runs. Ernesto Martinez Jr. worked a walk, Anthony Volpe singled to reach, and Garver loaded the bases on a free pass. J.C. Escarra laced a two-run single and Luciano followed with an RBI knock of his own for a 4-3 lead.

The Red Sox countered with a five-run seventh. With five hits and a pair of walks, they took back the lead 8-4. Anthony hit a two-run bomb to start off the scoring.

Luciano launched his second homer of the game to right center. Despite a hit in the ninth, SWB fell 8-5.

Kyle Carr made his first appearance off of the Injured List throwing the first frame. Xavier Rivas (L, 4-4) tossed three and a third for a bulk of the contest. Danny Watson took the loss in his inning and two thirds while John Brebbia (W, 2-0) earned the win.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre continues their series against Worcester with a 6:05 PM first pitch on Wednesday night. SWB has not yet set their starter but the Red Sox will send Boston's #17 prospect Gage Ziehl to the mound.
