Asheville Pulls Off One-Run Win in Game Two

ASHEVILLE- The Asheville Tourists and the Bowling Green Hot Rods played a double-header at McCormick Field on Thursday night. Bowling Green took Game One by a final score of 7-0 while Asheville bounced back in Game Two with a 3-2 victory.

ASHEVILLE- The Asheville Tourists and the Bowling Green Hot Rods played a double-header at McCormick Field on Thursday night. Bowling Green took Game One by a final score of 7-0 while Asheville bounced back in Game Two with a 3-2 victory.

The Hot Rods handed the Tourists their tenth shutout loss of the season in the opening contest. Asheville put several runners on base throughout the game; however, a pair of double-plays, and a triple-play, kept the home team from any sustained rallies. Tyler Guilfoil struck out seven and Ronny Garica pitched 2.1 scoreless out of the bullpen.

In Game Two, Asheville plated three runs right out of the gate. Tim Borden II, Austin Deming, and John Garcia all collected RBI hits in the bottom of the first. Bowling Green responded with two runs in the top of the second. Neither team scored the rest of the way.

Nolan DeVos covered five innings for his fourth win in an Asheville uniform. Max Roberts came struck out the side in the sixth and earned a hold. In the end, Franny Cobos was called upon for the top of the seventh. Cobos struck out a pair in his scoreless seventh inning, secured the win, and picked up his first save of the season in the process.

Asheville will attempt to even up the series with Bowling Green on Friday night with Game Four scheduled for 6:35pm ET.
