BOWLING GREEN- What a difference a day makes. 24 hours ago, the Asheville Tourists delivered their biggest win of the season; a 16-run victory over Greenville. Tonight, Asheville suffered their biggest loss of the year, 13-0 to the Bowling Green Hot Rods. It is the fourth time the Tourists have been shutout and ties the most runs they have allowed in a game this year.

The Tourists recorded a leadoff hit in five of the nine innings; however, at no point in the game did Asheville move a runner over to third base. The offense was limited to six singles on the night and struck out 13 times.

The pitching, apart from Franny Cobos, was just as poor. Asheville surrendered 11 hits, 11 walks, and hit a batter. Bowling Green’s six runs in the fourth and five runs in the fifth put the game away after they took a 1-0 lead early. The Hot Rods added their final run in the bottom of the eighth.

Cobos pitched three scoreless, hitless innings after the game was decided. Franny has covered 10.2 scoreless innings in his last three appearances. Cobos even stranded a pair of inherited runners when he came into the contest.

Asheville will attempt to bounce back on Wednesday with Game Two against Bowling Green scheduled for 7:35pm ET.
