The Midwest League plays a split-season scheduling format featuring two distinct qualifying seasons, each with 66 scheduled games. The First Half season in 2026 runs from April 2-June 18. The Second Half season runs from June 19-September 6. The division winners in each of the two divisions in each half qualify for post-season play beginning September 8.

The team that is in first place at the end of the night on Thursday, June 18, based on winning percentage, will be the East Division First Half champion and will be locked into a playoff position in September.

All three teams in the race will play doubleheaders on Thursday. Here are the current standings for the three contenders following games of Wednesday, June 17:

Lake County: 36-26, .581 pct., leading the division with 2 games to play

Dayton: 37-27, .578 pct., .003 percentage points behind Lake County with 2 games to play

Great Lakes: 35-27, .565 pct., 1 game behind Lake County with 2 games to play

The Dragons will play a doubleheader at Peoria on Thursday night at 6:05 pm (EDT) to wrap up the first half. Great Lakes and Lake County square off against each other in Midland, Michigan. Those two teams will play a doubleheader on Thursday to conclude the first half. The results from Thursday will determine the First Half East Division champion in the Midwest League.
