Vance Honeycutt's Heroic Walk-off, Aloy's Two Homers help Baysox comeback to best Sea Dogs Wednesday

Bowie, MD (September 2, 2026) – The Chesapeake Baysox, the Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, came back from a late deficit and walked off the Portland Sea Dogs, the Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, by a 5-4 final in 10 innings Wednesday night.
Vance Honeycutt grounded a tenth inning RBI single through the left side for Chesapeake (33-25, 52-64) that brought Griff O'Ferrall home for the Baysox fifth walk-off win of the season.

Baysox right-handed reliever Brock Moore faced the minimum across a scoreless ninth and tenth innings to earn the win.
Chesapeake trailed 3-0 before Wehiwa Aloy hit two-run home runs in both the seventh and eighth innings. The Baysox used Aloy's second Double-A multi-home run game to earn a 4-4 tie that they carried into extra innings.
Aloy's latter home run was an eighth inning liner to right field that scored Ethan Anderson -- Aloy's eighth Double-A homer this season.

Before the dramatic finish, Portland took an opening, one-run lead in the second against Chesapeake left-handed starter Joseph Dzierwa. Max Ferguson hit an RBI single before Dzierwa earned a flyout and strikeout to leave the bases loaded.
The Sea Dogs added to their lead in the fourth on a Ferguson (2-4, 3 RBI) two-run home run that put Portland ahead 3-0.
In a no-decision, Dzierwa struck out seven batters across four innings, giving up three runs on six hits and one walk. Dzierwa earned two strikeouts in each of the first three innings and faced the minimum in the first and third.
Portland countered Dzierwa by starting left-hander Hayden Mullins who, in a no-decision, faced two above the minimum across six scoreless innings, earning 10 strikeouts to one hit and one walk.
Dzierwa was relieved in the fifth by right-hander Bradley Brehmer who made his first Double-A appearance in nearly two years because of injury. Brehmer, who spent the entirety of 2025 on the Baysox full-season injured list, struck out two and faced the minimum across two scoreless innings.
With Portland still up 3-0, Chesapeake right-hander Ryan Long came in for Brehmer in the top of the seventh and struck out all three batters he faced.
In the home half of the inning, the Baysox cut the deficit to one on Aloy's first homer. After Anderson reached on an error to start the inning, Aloy clobbered a two-run long ball off the batter's eye in left-center field to make it 3-2 Sea Dogs.

Portland went up 4-2 on another home run in the eighth inning. With Long still on the mound, Johanfran Garcia hit a solo homer to left field.
Aloy's second round-tripper was the game's third home run in as many half innings. Both of Aloy's home runs came off of left-handed reliever Tyler Davis (BS, 1) and scored Anderson.
After both teams went in order in the ninth inning, Moore (W, 2-1) pitched a scoreless tenth to set up the walk-off. Up against Portland righty Erik Rivera (L, 0-4) O'Ferrall pinch-ran as the automatic runner at second and immediately stole third base for the Baysox, putting himself 90 feet away for Honeycutt's RBI single.
Chesapeake continues its final homestand of the regular season with Portland on Thursday night. After making 11 starts for Portland earlier this season, Baysox right-hander Anthony Eyanson (AA: 6-1, 1.83 ERA) is set to start against his former team and Sea Dogs southpaw Devin Futrell (AA: 2-0, 4.09 ERA). First pitch on Thursday is scheduled for 6:35 pm from Prince George’s Stadium.
