Rome, Georgia – Willy Vasquez and Dru Baker combined for four of the Bowling Green Hot Rods (2-2, 33-32) six hits during their 1-0 shutout loss to the Rome Braves (2-2, 32-38) on Wednesday at AdventHealth Stadium.
Rome plated the only run of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning against Bowling Green starter Roel Garcia. Ignacio Alvarez led-off with a single and moved up to second on a groundout. Keyshawn Organs singled to left, scoring Alvarez to put the Braves up 1-0. Bowling Green was quieted the rest of the way, losing by a score of 1-0.
Patrick Halligan earned the win, letting up two hits over 2.0 scoreless innings. Garcia collected the loss, allowing a run on four hits, three walks, and two strikeouts over 6.0 innings.
The Hot Rods and the Braves play game two of a six-game series on Thursday with first pitch set for 6:00 PM CT. Bowling Green has yet to determine a starter, while Rome is rolling out RHP Daniel Martinez (2-4, 2.80).
