Visalia Downs Sixers 3-1, Send Inland Empire to Third Loss in Row

Visalia, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino were unable to capitalize on early opportunities on Saturday at Recreation Park and fell to the Visalia Rawhide 3-1. It was the Sixers second consecutive loss to the Rawhide (14-9) and third consecutive loss overall matching a season-worst stretch. Inland Empire went 2-for-16 with runners in scoring position stranding a dozen runners, 11 of those through the first five innings, are now 2-for-22 in the series with RISP.
The 66ers (10-13) lone run came in third inning on Jonah Todd's single to shallow left giving the Sixers a 1-0 lead. RHP Alex Klonowski (0-1) held the Rawhide down until the fifth when Adam Walton singled to open the inning for the home club and then scored on Manny Jefferson's RBI double. Two batters later Jefferson scored the go-ahead run on Marcus Wilson's sac-fly to center. Visalia added an insurance run in the sixth when Drew Ellis tagged a solo homer to left, his fourth round-tripper of 2018. Keegan Long (1-1) was credited with the win while Tommy Eveld had a clean ninth for his first save. Daniel Procopio tossed two no-hit shutout innings out of the pen for Inland Empire to lower his ERA to 0.60. Jared Walsh had notched the Sixers lone multi-hit game with a single and a double.
