A night after blowing a six-run lead in the ninth inning, the Columbus Clingstones (17-18, 46-53) found their moment of redemption in a two-run walk-off single from Luke Waddell to win 4-3 over the Biloxi Shuckers (20-15, 55-45) on Wednesday night at Synovus Park.
Decisive Plays: A scoreless stalemate was broken after two stolen bases from Eric Hartman set up a sacrifice fly from John Gil in the sixth inning. Biloxi answered with three runs on four hits in the seventh, including an RBI double from Jesus Made and an RBI single from Blake Burke. Down 3-1 entering the ninth, Adam Zebrowski drove in a run with an RBI single to make it 6-3. After Maverick Handley popped out, Waddell won the game with a two-run single to score Owen Carey and pinch-runner Ambioris Tavarez.
Key Contributors: Waddell (1-for-3, 2 RBI) played the hero while Gil (1-for-3, RBI), and Zebrowski (1-for-4) brought home the other Columbus runs. For Biloxi, Made (1-for-4, 2B, RBI, SB), and Burke (1-for-4, RBI) once again powered the Shuckers attack.
