ALLENTOWN, Pa.Ryan Weathers pitched 6.0 strong innings on Wednesday, but Dustin Peterson’s walk-off home run for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs dropped the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp 4-3 at Coca-Cola Park.

With Jacksonville (56-59, 24-17) ahead 3-2, Jumbo Shrimp reliever Geoff Hartlieb (2-4) ceded a leadoff base hit to Kody Clemens to begin the ninth. Peterson followed by drilling a two-run shot to left-center to win it for Lehigh Valley (61-52, 25-15) 4-3.

Thanks to a strong performance from Weathers, who fanned nine and yielded only two runs on four hits in his 6.0 innings, and IronPigs starter Drew Hutchison, the game was scoreless through the first four frames. Jacob Amaya singled with one out in the fifth. After a lineout, he scored from first on Jordan Groshans’ double for the game’s first run.

Lehigh Valley responded in the bottom of the fifth. Aramis Garcia doubled and then Simon Muzziotti homered for the second game in a row to put the IronPigs in front at 2-1.

The Jumbo Shrimp would fight back immediately in the sixth. Troy Johnston singled with one out and advanced to second on a ground out. Austin Allen then deposited a base hit to center field to plate Johnston and tie the game.

The score remained that way until the eighth. Garrett Hampson singled off IronPigs reliever Yunior Marte (2-1) and stole second on a strikeout. He advanced to third on a fly out and then scored on a wild pitch to put Jacksonville ahead 3-2.

Jacksonville and Lehigh Valley meet again in Thursday’s 7:05 p.m. contest. RHP Edward Cabrera (2-0, 1.50 ERA) starts for the Jumbo Shrimp against IronPigs RHP Nick Nelson (5-2, 4.05 ERA). Coverage begins at 6:50 p.m. on ESPN 690 and www.ESPN690.com.
