North Little Rock, AR-In a wild finish capped by a walk-off walk from Chris Mariscal, the Arkansas Travelers defeated the Tulsa Drillers, 6-5 on Monday night at Dickey-Stephens Park. RBI singles from Adam Law and Dario Pizzano broke a tie in the eighth inning and seemed to set the Travs up for the win. However, Tulsa's Keibert Ruiz answered with a 3-run homer with two out in the ninth inning to put the Drillers on top. The Travs would respond though, with Tulsa seemingly out of pitching in the ninth as they used their starting shortstop Michael Ahmed on the mound. Beau Amaral would tie it with an RBI double and later score the winning run on Mariscal's walk. Chase De Jong worked seven innings allowing only two runs and three hits (just one after the third). Arkansas did not get a hit off Tulsa starter Dennis Santana before getting three straight to open the fifth. It was a frustrating night for the Travs offense as they stranded a total of 18 baserunners.
Moments That Mattered

  • The Travs scored in the third when a bad throw by Tulsa second baseman Drew Jackson allowed Joe DeCarlo to come in.
  • Dario Pizzano tied the game in the fifth on an RBI single.
  • Law's go-ahead single in the eighth extended his hitting streak to nine.
  • Trailing by a run, DeCarlo reached on a two base error to open the ninth inning.
  • Two hitters later, Amaral doubled to score DeCarlo and tie the game.
  • Mariscal's walk to end it came on a 3-2 pitch.
